Brian Stott

Brian is the manager at Tilton Opie & Pattinson Funerals and has over 20 years experience as a qualified funeral director. Brian loves traveling and spending time in the sun. Reading and gardening are some of his favourite hobbies, as well as a good wine!

Kaipara Solomon

Kaipara has over 27 years experience in the Funeral industry as a qualified Funeral Director/ Embalmer. Kaipara is an avid sports fan and competes in tennis locally and nationally, while also watching his son Levi compete in his chosen sports. Kaipara’s other interests include music, singing, playing guitar and piano, theatre, travelling when he can, reading, or just chillaxing with his son and partner.

Shane is a registered & qualified funeral director. In the past Shane has worked in Auckland, Melbourne, Nelson & Whangarei and has 28 years experience in funeral directing. In Shane’s spare time he and his wife Michelle travel the country with their 2 boys Jack & Harry, who compete nationally in BMX.

Our History

1930

Steve Tilton and Charles Opie started the business in 1930 and traded as ‘Tilton and Opie’. They were cabinet makers who started making caskets and then entered the funeral industry.

1944

They operated from premises at 150 Great North Road, Grey Lynn in Auckland. They built Grey Lynn at 252 Great North Road. These premises include a chapel that seats 80 people, an office and a mortuary /trim room.

1953

After Charles Opie died, Steve Tilton continued to run the business. He was joined by Ernest Pattinson and the name was changed to’ Tilton Opie & Pattinson.

1960

Ernest Pattinson later bought out Steve Tilton, to become the sole owner of the business. Ernest’s son, Robert joined the business in 1960.

1974

Ernest retired in 1974 and Robert took over the running of the business.

1993

The company opened the current New Lynn branch, at 3232 Great North Road.

2005

Robert Pattinson sold the business in to Sandra Kaneshiro.

2013

Sandra Kaneshiro then sold the business to Bledisloe/Invocare on 1 August 2013.

TODAY

Tilton Opie & Pattinson currently has two branches in
Royal Oak & New Lynn, Auckland.
